Putha Hiunchuli Expedition (7,246m) lies in the remote Dolpa region of western Nepal and is part of the Dhaulagiri range. Also known as Dhaulagiri VII, this stunning peak is surrounded by majestic mountains such as Churen Himal (7,385m), Dogari, Samjang, and Annapurna South. Putha Hiunchuli is sometimes referred to as a twin of Churen Himal due to their similar appearance.
This mountain offers a great opportunity for climbers aiming to summit a 7,000-meter peak without facing extreme technical challenges. It is considered one of the more accessible peaks of its height, making it suitable for climbers of various age groups and experience levels. The peak is also known for skiing potential and is popular among adventurers and crystal seekers. The region is culturally rich, and the base of the mountain is recognized as a research hub for Yarsagumba, attracting merchants and researchers annually.
The expedition starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, followed by another flight to Juphal in Dolpa. From there, the trekking route passes through Dunai and remote villages, gradually leading to the base camp of Putha Hiunchuli. The best climbing seasons are Spring (February–April) and Autumn (October–November). While permit fees tend to be higher in spring, the stable weather during both seasons makes them ideal times for the climb.
