Overview

Thorong Peak climbing is a challenging technical expedition in Nepal’s Annapurna region, reaching 6,144 meters (20,160 feet) near the famous Thorong La Pass. This climb demands technical skills, basic mountaineering experience, physical fitness, and mental readiness, as climbers navigate snow-covered and crevassed terrain using ice axes and ropes. The expedition usually takes 18–20 days and is often combined with the Annapurna Circuit Trek, offering breathtaking Himalayan vistas along the way. Climbers must obtain permits from the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) before embarking on the journey.
